Habitat's International Response in Haiti Although the full toll of homes severely damaged or destroyed is not yet known, Habitat has begun to respond by addressing immediate relief efforts and long-term shelter solutions for low-income families. Based on current information and past experience with international disasters, Habitat is planning a multiphase strategy that includes early recovery and mid- and long-term responses. Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County will be notified when volunteer recruitment begins in Haiti. We will keep our local community posted. Thank you
Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County is grateful for all of the support that you have offered our community in 2009. With your help, we rehabilitated the Andy Kriege home, broke ground on the 33rd Habitat home being built in Santa Cruz County and are already looking for new land to build our 34th Habitat home.
Thanks to your gifts and time, a family of 4 moved into their new home on December 22 and another family of 6 will have a new home by summer. We can hardly wait to get started on the next build! There is nothing in the world like the smile of a family when they receive the news that they have a new home!
Thank you for your contributions of time, money, and in-kind donations that have supported Santa Cruz Habitat during 2009. It takes a community to build affordable homes for low-income families, and without you, there wouldn't be a community.

In Time for Christmas
On December 22, the Estrada family was presented with their new Habitat home at Andy Kriege corner. After receiving the keys to their new home, the family left to get their sleeping bags in order to spend the night in their new home. Their plan-wake up early the next day and get moved in before Christmas! Read the Sentinel article.

The Habitat build at Dawn Lane is progressing very well thanks to a wonderful response from our community we have received in-kind contributions, cash, and many volunteer hours. The foundation has been poured for the garage, the framing of the first floor has started, sheer panels have been added, and we anticipate adding the second story sub floor shortly.
