Welcome to our dedicated page for the Blake Lane project in Scotts Valley. Here you can see progress on the building site and meet the new Blake Lane families. This photo will be updated often!

The Erickson Family

The Ericksons - Tracy and Tim - have four children, ages 8, 6, 4 and 2.  They are longtime Scotts Valley residents and are thrilled to be staying in the community as new homeowners.  Tim will be building on the jobsite most Tuesdays and Saturdays.  "When we first heard that Habitat for Humanity was doing a build project in Scotts Valley, we were ecstatic and could hardly wait to get connected. Newspaper clips, city council meetings, the word on the streets, all brought excitement and the glimpse of a potential home ownership dream come true. We are eagerly looking forward to the change that this blessing will bring to our day to day lives, our purpose, our children, community and future."

The Chavez Family

Rachel Chavez, a single mother of two children, ages 7 and 10, heard about the Habitat homeownership opportunity through work. Rachel felt she met all the qualifying criteria. She attended the orientation session and five months later learned that her family had been selected to become homeowners on Blake Lane. Rachel brought her children out to the empty lot on Blake Lane to tell them that this will soon be their new home. A few weeks later, Rachel began her sweat equity on the job site digging the trenches where the foundation will be poured. "I am honored to say that we were a chosen family.  This has truly been a blessing for us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my children's, whose lives have now been changed forever."

The Jeffries Family

Clint and Kindra Jeffries have two sons, ages 13 and 10.  They had lived in Scotts Valley for 12 years at the time their application was accepted.  However, soon after, their landlord decided to renovate the property and they were forced to vacate. They couldn't find housing in Scotts Valley so they now live in Santa Cruz, where they pay nearly half of their income just for rent.  It has been a hard transition and they can't wait to come back.  "It is all in the name: Habitat for Humanity.  We feel excited and thankful to Habitat for Humanity for giving our family a chance to have a beautiful home of our own.  A place where we can live happily ever after."
